If you follow a paleo diet, you have to pay close attention to what you are allowed to eat and what you can’t consume. Bread is an important part of our daily diet, however, you can’t eat cereal on a paleo diet. That problem can be solved easily. All you need to do is to bake your own paleo bread or your own paleo buns!

In this post, I will briefly explain the idea of the paleo diet and then give you tips and three recipes on how to bake the most delicious paleo bread, taking into account the rules of a paleo diet. The three Paleo bread recipes listed below can also be varied to your likings if you desire.

What Does Paleo Actually Mean?

Paleo is more of a way of life than (only) a diet. Many of our diseases are due to our changing eating habits over the last thousand years. Wealth diseases such as diabetes are caused in part by foods that our ancestors did not know anything about a long time ago and, therefore, did not eat.

This is the basic idea behind the paleo diet. Man only consumes food that was available 10,000 years ago. This means no more processed food and no grain. You eat a lot of meat, fruit and vegetables – Simply go back to our origins.

What may I Eat on a Paleo Diet?

Unlike most other diets, it is quite a time consuming to compile your nutrition plan within the guidelines of the paleo diet. You first have to know exactly what you are allowed to eat and what is absolutely forbidden. The list of foods to be eaten is very long.



However, it follows a specific scheme. Once you understand the basic idea, it also becomes easier to see the difference between the things you are allowed to eat and those that are taboo.

The food that is permitted to be eaten has existed in the distant past. If you internalize this, it will be simpler for you to select the correct sources. Foods that you are allowed to eat are, for example:


✓ Fish
✓ Meat – But only from livestock raised without cereal feed.
✓ Poultry – e.g. duck, turkey and chicken.
✓ Fruits and vegetables
✓ Tuber family – e.g. sweet potatoes and cassava.
✓ Fruits – e.g. apples and cucumbers.
✓ Nuts – e.g. almonds, hazelnuts and cashew nuts.
✓ Oils and fats – e.g.: Coconut oil and olive oil
✓ Of course, not all of these foods are suitable for processing into paleo bread or paleo buns, but some can be surprising and wholesome ingredients.

Add Paleo Bread to Your Diet Plan

Keeping a paleo diet is not very difficult for most people. You don’t have to walk around with your stomach growling like with so many other aggressive weight-loss diets. However, most people miss the bread, rolls, bagels and other baking goods, which they were used to eat in the past.

The paleo diet offers sufficient alternatives in itself, yet many people simply cannot go without their bread. If you’re one of those people, then don’t you threat any longer, because my favorite paleo bread can help you out of your misery.

The seeming problem is that no grain can be processed in the paleo bread. But there are now really wonderful paleo bread recipes, which are actually inconceivable from a complete paleo diet. By baking your own bread, you can use healthy ingredients and vary them according to your taste.


With Paleo, the Focus is Not on Bread

We tend to eat bread, especially for breakfast or lunch with our favorite sub. With the paleo diet, however, the focus is more on fish, eggs and fruit. You can even start with bacon and red meat for breakfast. Paleo bread or paleo rolls are allowed on the diet, but bread rarely appears on the meal plan of a paleo diet.

However, I want to show you here that you don’t have to do without bread. Thus, let’s go ahead and bake our first paleo (grain-free) bread together. I’ve picked three of my favorite paleo bread recipes.

Feel free to try them all and to mix and match different ingredients. Think of baking the paleo style as if you were creating a painting – there are no limits, as long as you stay away from the grains!

The Most Delicious Paleo Bread

It is quite wrongly assumed that paleo bread or paleo buns taste more like some sort of cake than bread. If you choose the right paleo bread recipes, however, you will quickly realize that paleo bread can be just as tasty as the regular bread from your bakery around the corner. Here, I will introduce you to 3 types of paleo bread.

Delicious Paleo Bread Recipe #1 – Banana Bread (my favorite)

This bread is quite easy to bake and is also very healthy due to its extra nutrients. The bananas give the bread a wonderfully sweet taste. Once you’ve tried the following recipe, it’ll surely be one of your favorite recipes, as well.

Banana Bread

Ingredients – What do you need for a loaf of banana bread?

✓ 6 eggs                                    Easy-Paleo-Recipes
✓ 1 tsp sea salt
✓ 2 ripe bananas
✓ 2 tbsp honey
✓ 1 tsp vanilla extract
✓ 80 ml of coconut milk
✓ 130 grams of coconut flour
✓ 90 grams of almond flour
✓ 1 tbsp baking soda
✓ 2 tbsp raisins
✓ 1 toothpick


  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Grease the oven shape for the bread (between 9 to 11 inches long box shape).
  • Beat the eggs and add some sea salt.
  • Smash the bananas with a fork and add to the eggs.
  • Then add honey, vanilla extract, coconut milk, coconut flour and almond flour.
  • Finally, add the baking soda and mix everything well.
  • After you added the raisins, everything goes into the oven for 45 to 55 minutes.
  • Take a toothpick and insert it in the center of the bread. If it comes out clean, the bread is ready.

Delicious Paleo Bread Recipe #2 – Avocado Bread

A surprising type of bread, with a taste that makes you quickly forget all other bread variants. You will never wish back for the bread you ate before your paleo diet. Paleo Guru Mitchel van Duuren described the following paleo bread:

Avocado Bread

Ingredients – What do you need for an avocado bread?

✓ 3 peeled and sliced avocados                                                                    Paleo-Recipe
✓ 6 eggs
✓ 5 tbsp honey (75 ml)
✓ 4 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice (60 ml)
✓ 150 grams of almond flour
✓ 75 grams of coconut flour
✓ 1 tbsp baking powder
✓ 1 tsp cinnamon
✓ 1 tsp black pepper
✓ 1 tsp sea salt



✓ Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
✓ Grease the oven shape for the bread.
✓ Add the avocado pieces to the blender along with the eggs, honey, orange juice and mix well.
✓ Then add the baking powder, coconut flour and almond flour together with the salt and herbs.
✓ Once you’ve blended everything well together, fill the mixture into the baking dish.
✓ Then, bake in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
✓ Repeat the toothpick test again to ensure that your bread is ready.

Delicious Paleo Bread Recipe #3 – Sweet Nut Bread

Nuts are very healthy and give the bread a sublime taste. Nuts have become very popular in recent years, because they are also recommended in almost all dietary forms. But here, of course, it’s about the natural variation, i.e. not roasted and unsalted. You can choose your favorite nut variety here, which you would like to add.

Ingredients – What do you need for a nut bread?

✓ 1 tbsp honey
✓ 5 eggs
✓ 150 grams of almond flour
✓ 50 grams of coconut flour
✓ 50 grams of finely ground nuts. You can choose almonds, walnuts, pecans or hazelnuts.
✓ 1 tsp sea salt
✓ As a filling, you can take e.g. 200 grams of figs, trail mix, dates or other dried fruit.



✓ Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
✓ Grease the baking tin.
✓ Beat the eggs well. Then add the remaining ingredients and put the stuffed baking dish into the oven.
✓ Cover the mold with aluminum foil.
✓ Remove the aluminum foil after 35 minutes from the baking dish, then leave the paleo bread in the oven for another 35 minutes.
✓ Make the toothpick test again, and savor your bread once ready.

If you ever have a few slices of bread left, freeze them so that you can enjoy your delicious paleo bread later on.

Alternatives to Paleo Bread

The paleo diet is quite elaborate. You can’t just pick up bread or rolls quickly in the morning. The daily meal costs quite a lot of effort. Many people who have a long working week, therefore, do not find it easy to follow a paleo diet.

With a family, you don’t have that much time left in the morning. Bake your paleo bread on the weekends, and freeze portions of it for later on. But there are also good alternatives to paleo bread or paleo buns.

Many recipes for Paleo breakfast include the ingredients: eggs, fish and fruit. This is something completely different from the American standard breakfast, but you should just try it out to experience it. In the long run, however, most people will probably want to switch back to their paleo bread.
