Apple Cider Vinegar for Your Hair – The Usages

There are very different applications for the hair, in which apple cider vinegar is utilized as an old and proven home remedy. The most common applications are summarized below.

Apple-Cider-Vinegar-Uses

Sealing the cuticle (outer layer) of the hair

A layer of overlapping cells surrounds each hair. Whenever we wash the hair with shampoo, dandruff will stand upright. In order to bring the acid mantle of the hair back into balance, so that the flakes flatten down and neutralize again, it is necessary to seal the cuticle layer with an acidic conditioner.

Apple cider vinegar is a perfect alternative to traditional hair conditioners from the drug store. After rinsing, it protects the hair from moisture loss and adds a smooth, shiny appearance.

Unlike many hair care products that have an alkaline pH above 7, apple cider vinegar is acidic and causes the hair structure to close.

For Dry Hair

Many hair care products irritate the hair and scalp, and the natural pH comes out of balance. The result: The hair dries and becomes brittle. Dry tips and split ends give the hair an unkempt look.

The cause is often in the fact that the hair was cared for and styled too much. Anyone who resorts too often to straighteners, hair driers or hair treatments must expect that their hair becomes dull, brittle and dry.

Dry-Hair

Many times, dry hair is also associated with a dry scalp. Commercially available shampoos create an unnatural, alkaline environment that adversely affects the scalp and hair in the long run.

In order to bring the pH back into equilibrium, the acid of the apple cider vinegar is outstandingly suitable. Normally, the pH of the hair should be between 4 and 5.

The use of apple cider vinegar restores the pH, and that without stripping the body’s own oils off of the scalp.

Furthermore, the numerous minerals and vitamins, provide the hair with nutrients. This counteracts, in addition, the dry scalp and the accompanying itching. Please, keep in mind, though, that you should use a more diluted apple cider vinegar solution on damaged or dry hair.

BTW.: Did you know that your diet has a lot to do with your physical appearance? Make sure you receive all the nutrients your body needs, plus, that your pH level is neutral. Apple Cider Vinegar against Dandruff

Dandruff is a real misery if you suffer from it. Fortunately, one can fight the unpleasant problem relatively well with apple cider vinegar. 1/4 liter of apple cider vinegar in combination with a cup of freshly picked nettle leaves make a proven remedy for dandruff.

Briefly, heat the vinegar in a pot on the stove. However, make sure that the vinegar does not cook. Then, douse the nettle leaves with the hot vinegar in a sealable container. A lid ensures that no active ingredients can volatilize.

The rinse must now rest about 15 minutes. In the meantime, you can wash your hair with a mild silicone shampoo, and then gently dried it with a towel.

Afterward, pour the rinse over your head. For an optimal effect, gently massage the homemade hair conditioner in with your fingers.

Since the vinegar smell is gone after a few minutes, rinsing is not absolutely necessary.

The anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties of apple cider vinegar combat fungi and bacteria that cause dandruff. These shed scales would lead to a dry, itchy scalp. However, dandruff can have different causes.

Frequently, dandruff is triggered by the fungus Pityrosporum ovale (a naturally occurring lipophilic yeast). The fungus causes scab on the scalp.

This irritates the skin on the head and causes infections. The vinegar works against this type of dandruff, as it is considered to be a strong disinfectant.

For Hair Care

The use of apple cider vinegar also promotes the circulation of the scalp. This, on the other hand, strengthens and supplies the hair roots better with nutrients. Thus, hair growth improves accordingly, too.

You should prefer the roughest, unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar for hair care. This is unpasteurized and, thus, contains important enzymes and nutrients which nourish the hair.

Hair -Care

Make sure it comes with “The Mother,” which is the cloudy sediment on the bottom of the vinegar bottle. It contains the most beneficial nutrients, thus, it should never be disregarded.

After shampooing, a regular rinse should be made with a solution of 30 ml apple cider vinegar and 250 ml water.

This solution should be massaged into the hair and scalp and allowed to work for about 10 minutes before rinsing the hair with clean water. An additional shampoo session is not necessary.

If you suffer from greasy hair, you can add a little more vinegar. This frees the hair of excess oil and makes the hair appear fresh and soft. This conditioning should be done once or twice a week for best results.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Hair Loss

Apple cider vinegar is not a miracle cure for hair loss, because, with genetic hair loss, this home remedy can not do too much. However, if the steady loss of hair is due to clogged pores or a scalp fungus, then it makes sense to apply apple cider vinegar.

Hair-Loss-Remedies

Washed your hair, if possible with a caffeine-containing hair shampoo, which promotes the circulation of the scalp. Then, you should apply a rinse of 30 ml of apple cider vinegar and 60 ml of lukewarm water.

Massage this gently in with the fingertips and do not rinse out. After a few minutes, the acidic odor will have disappeared.

One should use this conditioner after each hair-wash routine to combat hair loss.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Oily Hair

If you want to transform greasy hair to a soft head of hair with the help of the apple cider vinegar conditioner, you will need 100 ml of apple cider vinegar, 200 ml of water and 2 drops of thyme oil.

Mix apple cider vinegar and water in a bottle with a screw cap. Then carefully distill the thyme oil. Now close the bottle well and shake, so that the essential oil can blend with the water.

Greasy-Hair

Now wash your hair with mild baby shampoo. After washing, pour some rinse product over the scalp and hair. Massage the conditioner well into the scalp and through your hair with the fingertips.

Anyone who does not flush out this conditioner will increase the benefits, as the active ingredients can penetrate the skin longer. The user does not have to worry about an unpleasant vinegar smell, because it dissipates anyway after a few minutes.

Apple Cider Vinegar Against Head Lice

To prevent lice, apple cider vinegar is a very effective, natural home remedy because it has a very aggressive influence on the lice. The vinegar does not only kill the lice, but it also wards off eventual “newcomers” and hinders them from settling down. Apple Cider Vinegar is especially useful against lice larvas and eggs, it is very effective because the eggs can be easily detached from the hair.

After shampooing, simply apply a mixture of two-thirds water and one-third vinegar to the hair with a spray bottle. It also helps to spry the dry hair in the morning before leaving home. The only drawback of this method is the smell, but it disappears relatively quickly.

Apple Cider Vinegar to Lighten the Hair Color

Apple cider vinegar conjures beautiful shades into the hair. In order to exploit this advantage, however, it is necessary to work with a 50/50 mixture. Anyone who uses it undiluted runs the risk of over-drying his hair to the extreme.

Incorporate the diluted vinegar solution normally into the hair, and rinse the hair carefully after 15 minutes.

Of course, a visible brightening does not occur right at the first application. Repeat the procedure once a week until a slight brightening and highlights appear.

Of course, you cannot expect the same degree of lightening as with common bleaching routines.

Summary

Apple cider vinegar is very versatile in the field of hair care. As with all cosmetic approaches, it should be noted that less is more. Therefore, you should not apply it more than twice a week to your hair, because the positive effect can otherwise turn into the opposite quickly. Here, as in many cases, less is more.

If the application of apple cider vinegar is too frequent, it causes the pH to become overly acidic, which, in turn, is not desirable.

So, if you want to care for your hair with vinegar, you should keep a balanced routine to enjoy the benefits only and not having to worry about side effects. After all, remember that too much care causes har problems.

It is also important to never use the vinegar pure. Always dilute it with a certain amount of water before applying it to your skin or hair.

Various additives, such as essential oils, can further refine the effect of apple cider vinegar. For some concoctions, it’s easy to try things out to achieve unexpected results. If you want to know more about the apple cider vinegar benefits, then read my article below.
